Kerehaklu, in Chikmagalur, Karnataka is a green haven tucked away in the Western Ghats. A coffee estate in the wild, grown in harmony with the natural biodiversity, Kerehaklu also boasts of having - imho - the best (& biggest) Avocados you’ve ever eaten.
The most serendipitous part about this rabbit hole I am finding myself in, is the privilege of receiving produce, straight from the source, from people I am lucky to call my friends. Pranoy, managing partner and storyteller extraordinaire of Kerehaklu hand harvests each Avocado, with Suresha and Eeshwar who are expert tree-climbers - making sure all of the fruits are treated with the respect and care they deserve.
Creamy, smooth, luscious golden-green fruits that make you have an “Ah, that’s why they’re called Butter Fruit” moment every time you cut into them. Hand harvesting these bad boys also ensures that none of the produce hits the ground, which is usually what causes the internal blackening / rotting we are so used to seeing in the avocados we usually get.
These Avocados will remind you, or even possibly show you for the very first time, what it is supposed to taste like. Each box contains 1 large and 1 medium sized Avo, and it’s recommended you consume them entirely on the day you cut them - so plan your meal around them!
And in true Simbiosis fashion, nothing is really complete without adding a little something of what’s growing at our farm. While it is off season for us, glorious Mint and spicy Chillies are putting on a little show for us and that’s what is being added to make the perfect accompaniment for these.
